Drawing on Location--Broadside Pencil Drawing

These are a few broadside pencil drawings, a looser technique that I'm fond of and would like to continue using more of. The ones in red are from the Chinese Gardens again, while the other two are from Union Station and the US Customs House.

Drawing on Location--The Chinese Gardens

Some drawings I did on location at the Chinese Gardens, went there with Lee White's Drawing on Location Class. In these ones I was working with India ink and a waterbrush, experimenting again. I like the results and would like to play with this method more (it was suggested I look into sumi-e painting, I think that would be fun).

A few pages of Quicksketch work--Vehicles

One of the best classes I've had at AI is Quicksketch with Lee White(you can find a link to his blog on the right). Actually, I can say that for all of the classes I've taken with him. Anyway, these of pages are of vehicles from reference. I used this class to experiment a lot, and I took a leaf out of the Lee's book and tried to use some graphic shapes to give the objects some space. This can make a world of difference, the perfect example of this being the page with the blimps and hot air balloons, it was really pretty boring before I added that.
